Happy International Women’s Day – the perfect day to launch a brand new issue of Women in Ag Mag!
In this magazine, you will meet several laureates from last year’s Women in Ag Awards, including Lamai Yapanan – who protects indigenous plant breeds; Devroll Legodi – multiple awardee for her vertical farming project in South Africa; Lysette Lacambra – who teaches sustainable farming practices; Cristina Mallor Gímenez – who is passionate about preserving heirloom seeds; Doreen Irungu – who empowers African women in ag; and Mary Johnson who teaches women around the world about regenerative practices.
We also talk to Manuela, who runs a goat dairy and cheesery in Germany and offers farm tours and cheese-making workshops; and Nikki, who runs a maple syrup farm. Yemisi and Judith are there as always to write about the issues and musings women in ag are confronted with in their parts of the world. Back again this issue is the Do More Agriculture Foundation with a very important article about stigma in farming and mental health. Antoon reviewed a documentary instead of a book this time and, finally, we are also launching a new feature on an insidious and underrepresented problem for women in agriculture: coercive control on the farm.
We hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as we did making it.
Happy reading!
Kim.
