Tine Dezeure: “women with a technical profile are hard working experts”

Tine Dezeure (35) is one of the strong women at the head of the Belgian family business and renowned overload trailers manufacturer Dezeure. A Master in Science with specialisation in Electromechanical Engineering, Tine knows every aspect of building agricultural machines and used to love taking over the wheel of a combine from her father when she was a teenager. Along with her sister Dorine, brother in law Julien and husband Siel, she is the third generation at Dezeure.

Tine never really experienced being treated differently as a woman in technical studies and jobs, but notes there are still less women than men. The proper motivation, the right competences and a lot of passion and interest: that is what makes you the right candidate for a technical job in my opinion, regardless of your gender.”

Tine doesn’t believe gender still makes a big difference for a company when looking to hire, but certainly hopes that organisations that still do are in the minority: “in these times, where it is so hard to find people with real technical skills, it would be very unwise and short-sighted for businesses to discriminate female high potentials based on their gender. Give women the same opportunities and guidance as their male colleagues, look at the person and their talents instead of their gender and be open to hiring female talents.”
