Women in Ag Mag 2022-003

This year’s third issue of Women in Ag Magazine is out!

While we work towards a busy autumn of fairs and our very own Women in Ag Awards International in collaboration with DLG and EuroTier, this latest issue is filled with inspiring stories from ditto women. And while the world around us can get scary at times with news of war, droughts, floods and rising prices, it also centers around the themes of sustainability, finding a way of practising agriculture that works for you and mental health.

Our first encounter is with Lucie Mainard, a young woman who grew up on the French countryside but discovered agriculture a bit later in life. Today, she runs the organic poultry farm “Les Jolies Rousses” and hosts a blog and vlog about her life as a farmer. Meanwhile, way down in the south of Europe, Greek farmer Sheila Darmos explores regenerative farming and food forests, in the footsteps of her pioneer father. Our new feature “More than farming” takes us to the more traditional, but fully circular, dairy farm “Koeweidehof” near Brussels, where Marijke d’Hertefelt hosts teambuildings on the farm.

Our “outsider” is the young Väderstadt demo driver Caroline Hirshberg, who talks about her work and how she does not see the need for making a difference between men and women anymore. A point of view she shares with influencer Natalie Kovarik, who runs her ranch in Nebraska as well as a 104K follower Instagram account and a podcast where she shares about her life as a rancher.

Completely according to this issue’s theme, our editor Antoon’s book pick was “The soil will save us”. You can read all about his impressions here. Our mental health columnist Erica warns us about wanting to keep too many balls in the air, while Melanie Epp tells us about making time for relaxation. Last but not least, Women in Ag announces its Women in Ag Awards International, to be held on November 16 at the EuroTier fair. Read about the awards and how to enter here.

Don’t forget you can get in touch to pitch your story to our team and maybe get it published in a next issue by filling in this form or e-mailing to kim@womeninagmag.com . You can also support us by advertising in our magazine: let us know by emailing antoon@womeninagmag.com !

We hope you enjoy reading our latest issue!
