Woman in Ag Magazine #1

On this International Women’s Day, we are proud to publish our first issue of Women in Ag Mag!

Women worldwide have an important role in farming. No longer caretakers and silent helpers on the farm, they make decisions for its future, drive combines and tractors, run their businesses with or without a partner, keep the books and so much more.

With Women in Ag Magazine, we want to collect all those inspiring stories from agricultural women all over the world.
In this first issue, we bring you the stories of Chyenne Smith, a rancher in the mountains of Idaho and Marieke Penterman, a Dutch cheesemaker in Wisconsin. Moniek Wisse tells us about her passion for waterskiing.

Agriculture is more than farms and fields: fairs are a meeting place for everybody in the sector. That’s why we asked Isabelle Alfano, Director of SIMA, how she sees the role of women in ag. Liesbet Vermeiren, research scientist at Syngenta, is our Outsider. With Pass the Pen, we want to create a chain all around the world, of women in agriculture empowering each other, and first up is Belgian pig farmer Mieke Verniest. Finally, Melanie Epp writes down her thoughts in a column, wondering, for this first one, if we really need an agricultural magazine for women.

Women in Ag is also available in Dutch.
